It seems only fair after today's battle with a wine bottle top to share my new found expertise with others.
After all, one as challenged as I am in dealing with obstinate bottle tops and packaging, has an obligation to help others with the same problem.
Today's episode began with an attempt to open a corked wine bottle which seems simple enough if you're handy with such things; but for the 'bottle opener challenged' it's a different story.
The struggle began with removing the tightly sealed plastic wrap around the top.
Umpteen slashes with a paring knife finally solved that.
Next - cork removal !!
I pulled a cork remover from a drawer only to find an old cork still clinging to the spiral.
Removing it was more trouble than the rest of it, requiring just the right pressure, a little help from pliers, and some mighty turns of the wrist.
Finally - down to the real business - removing new cork from new bottle which went smoothly enough.
This time, however, the new cork was immediately removed from the spiral!!!
I'd hate a repeat performance.
