JOHN McCAIN WANTS DEMOCRAT & REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMEN TO REDUCE PORK-BARREL SPENDING

Members of both parties often attach pork-barrel funding items to proposed legislation to gain local favor for their re-election.
Such items, known as earmarks, are sometimes sneaked into a spending bill in the middle of the night before voting begins.
McCain believes this is irresponsible, and has made it his practice never to earmark proposed legislation.
Reckless pork-barrel earmarks are in direct conflict with the ever present need for government to reduce spending and thus reduce the tax burden weighing heavily on Americans.
McCain is well-known for refusing to approve government spending bills until wasteful, politically inspired earmark additions are eliminated.

"WE'VE BEEN SORT OF LIKE JOHN McCAIN, BUT NOT...

"completely." Quote by Presidential candidate Obama tonight as he, with Hillary Clinton and John Edwards. debated in South Carolina.
During one segment of the debate, all three of them focused on John McCain. They apparently believe (and fear) that he will be the strongest Republican candidate to oppose one of the three in the 2008 Presidential election.
